Excuse My French is a little gem in the heart of the Lower East Side, over one of the most iconic streets of the “old” New York and parked across the street of the Tenement Museum. You will discover this small slip down the basement gastro pub that feels like a speakeasy but is so much more! Step inside; enjoy our cozy 1920’s French look, with an eclectic artsy décor.
We put equal detail and attention into food, service and atmosphere. Excuse My French will leave you wanting for more. French-born chef Johann Giraud created a French tapas style menu that ranges from a classic cheese platter that includes our French baguette to tasty beef sliders with his "grandma" sauce; great vegetarian options as well like his sauteed Brussels Sprouts with.
To encompass all: Mexico City-born, owner and operator, Ricardo Valdez beautifully designed the interior to re-create a cozy 1920's French look, with an eclectic artsy deco that will transport you to another era. He, along with his husband, curated the cocktail program that utilizes fresh ingredients, unique liquors and classic combinations
One of my favourite places in the city. How can you not like sitting at a nice long bar in a small LES restaurant, drinking great cocktails and eating good French bistro food (I've tried the duck, tuna tartare, escargot, and steak tartare)?
Great food and service- the manager is lovely and was so fun to talk to throughout the evening. Will definitely return and would highly recommend for a nice little spot
Fabulous - we came here after work on Friday, I think this could be a new tradition for us. Great food, fun and super good service - cannot wait to eat the menu!!!
Went yesterday on a date. food was good. we ordered the sauteed brussels sprout, duck confit parmentier, butterfly salmon and foie gras lollipop. first time having foie gras and not something i would try again. space is small but cute ambiance.
This restaurant is an amazing gem! It's tiny but that adds to the charm. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Went here on a first date and couldn't have asked for better ambience, food and drink. It is definitely a new favorite of mine!
